high five for home

Welcome! This blog isn’t what you think it is…

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

I really fought with myself about writing this blog. I figured that someone already wrote about natural living, parenting, marriage, working mommyhood, home décor, parties and fast and frugal weeknight dinners. Someone else is already out there inspiring us to be better and I could never be as good as them. But no one has lived life, parented, navigated marriage, made a house a home on a tight budget from my perspective. And no one else has my story. So I will share my stories, passions, reflections and life from my home. Because after all, when you are sitting around with girlfriends sharing your struggles, who doesn’t love to hear, “me too.”  So here is my virtual version of “me too.”

I will not always write about natural living because sometimes I use paper plates for an entire week and fly through the drive through in order to survive.

I will not always write about fantastic recipes to spice up your boring dinner routine because sometimes that 16” pizza every Thursday night from Sam’s Club for $5.98 is the sanity saver in our routine.

I will not always write about how you can pull together a fabulous themed party from Pinterest and look like you hired a party planner because sometimes it is just as fun to invite people over last minute to your- put everything in the bedroom, shut the door, vacuum and clean the main bathroom house- and throw together taco night.

I will not always write reflections on thought provoking Bible scriptures or motivating quotes over beautiful photography because most of the time I pin those on Pinterest and forget them when I am about to cuss out my hubby in my head or unleash the psycho mommy.

I will not always write about anything specific except how to enjoy the moment you are in because the moment is really all we have. My best made plans can crumble in an instant with a sick preschooler, a high schooler who needs 3 hours of study help or a hubby who needs my undivided attention because he has shared it for 8 years.

I will never write about how I figured out how to be a work-out-of-the-home mom and woman, because I haven’t figure out how to balance it at all.

But I will always give you my best for that moment. I’ll give my heart as open as I can allow it. I will always try to encourage you with my faith that wavers from mustard seed to water walking. I will always give you me.  I hope to inspire you to bring a little more happy to your life, do better than yesterday and find faith, family and fun in your home right where you are. High five for home.
